Reinsurers across the globe achieved “significant” recovery of prior-year capital losses during 2023 due to strong technical results, unrealised capital gains and higher reinvestment rates, according to an AM Best report.

The ratings agency said that during 2023 reinsurers began to see higher pricing and stricter terms imposed at earlier renewals earn out in their portfolios.
