Hannover Re to grow nat cat exposures with retro to offset volatility

Hannover Re will “significantly reduce” its proportional K-cession at 1 January compared to the 2023 year, and will buy “broadly similar towers of non-proportional retrocession”, Sven Althoff, executive board member, P&C, said on the firm’s investor day call today.

The retro program will support continued growth in the P&C segment and nat cat exposure at the firm, and this will also be enabled by continued work on diversification.
