Hannover Re’s K-cession sidecar has sidestepped many of the large losses impacting the reinsurer so far this year as the protection it provides only covers certain territories, the firm said on its Q3 earnings call.

Further, the reinsurer said it was in discussion with retro partners on the proportional side for 2024 about “most likely ceding a little bit less compared to what we have ceded in 2023”.
