Swiss Re P&C unit swings to nine-month profit of $1.5bn

Swiss Re’s P&C unit booked a profit of $1.5bn for the first nine months of the year, compared with a loss of $283mn in the prior-year period, as the impact of cat losses receded, prices rose and investment returns improved.

At group level, Swiss Re reported net profit of $2.4bn for the nine-month period, compared with a loss of $285mn at this point last year.
