Long-term relief from California Insurance Commissioner Lara’s plan may take 12+ months

California homeowners’ insurers could see near-term relief from Commissioner Ricardo Lara’s recently announced plans to restructure the state’s ailing Fair Plan, but sources say sustained relief could take a year or longer. 

California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order on Thursday authorizing the commissioner to “take immediate action to expand and stabilize the state’s distressed property insurance market”.
