Groupama sponsors EUR100mn cat bond

French insurer Groupama has secured EUR100mn ($109mn) in aggregate reinsurance coverage via a cat bond.

The company claimed it was the first European group to sponsor a cat bond this year.

Groupama’s bond provides protection for weather-related events in France.
