CSU increases 2023 hurricane forecast to ‘near-average’ activity

Colorado State University (CSU) researchers have increased their forecast for the 2023 Atlantic basin hurricane season to “near-average” activity and three major hurricanes, from a “slightly below average” activity and two major hurricanes forecast in mid-April.

In its update, CSU now predicts 14 named storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes, which refer to those wind speeds of Category 3, 4, and 5.
