The Sifma ILS conference was a brisk and business-like affair this year, with a sense of discipline in the air. Yes, there was a feel of reunion to it a little bit, since the industry last gathered at Miami Beach’s Eden Roc hotel three years ago in March, just as the Covid-19 virus was beginning to take hold in Europe.

But with those early pandemic memories now receding, the bigger influence on discussions was Hurricane Ian, which tore through Florida and ripped up everyone’s 1 January renewal strategies.
