Tropical Storm Nicole makes landfall as thousands left without power

Tropical Storm Nicole has left nearly 110,000 people without power across Florida, caused flooding and damaged buildings and is set to bring more damaging waves, heaving rainfall and potentially flash flooding.

The storm made landfall at around 03:00 local time close to the south of Vero Beach as a Category 1 hurricane and has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.
