Covea has announced the closure of its EUR7.9bn ($7.94bn) acquisition of PartnerRe from Exor, in a move CEO Thierry Derez described to this publication as both “industrial and strategic”.

Covea originally agreed to buy Bermudian P&C reinsurer PartnerRe from Exor for $9bn in March 2020, only to back out of the deal that spring, citing Covid-19’s impact on the business’s value.
