Demotech withdraws Southern Fidelity ratings as 1 June deadline passes

Ratings agency Demotech withdrew its financial stability rating for Southern Fidelity on Friday, more than a week after the Floridian suspended new business and renewals as it tried to line up reinsurance for the 2022 hurricane season.

Demotech said the withdrawal followed a review of first quarter 2022 financial statements and reflected the fact that the company's reinsurance coverage was not complete as of 2 June.
