Cat bond spreads on rise in April as capacity tightens after busy Q1

Cat bond spreads have been rising steadily in April as spreads on new issuance have settled above or at the top end of guidance. This follows a busy Q1 which has consumed capacity and sources also suggested it reflects inflationary concerns leading to higher spread demands.

“It’s been very acute in the past month. Spreads were quite tight last year, and things have been reversing ever since,” a source told Trading Risk.
