Lightsmith climate fund of $186mn eyes nat-cat modelling investments

Private equity firm Lightsmith has raised $186mn for the Lightsmith Climate Resilience fund, which will invest in growth-stage technology companies that address the physical effects of climate change – including specifically catastrophe risk modelling and transfer technologies.

The fund is backed by investors from around the world, including PNC Insurance Group, the Rockefeller Foundation, Kinneret Group, Caprock Impact Partners, the European Investment Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and German state-backed KfW.
