The centre of Tropical Storm Nicholas, which formed in the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend, is expected to pass near or just offshore the coasts of northeastern Mexico and south Texas this morning (CDT time), according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

According to the latest NHC update at 01:00 CDT, the storm will then move onshore along the coast of south or central Texas on Monday afternoon or evening.
