Most US insurers have steered clear of seeking aggregate cat bond structures this year, but structural changes could open up more investor appetite for such deals despite prior losses, Swiss Re Capital Markets said in its August ILS market insights report.

The firm noted that many insurers either chose to source per-occurrence capacity or hold back from the cat bond market as investor demand for aggregate deals dried up following prior-year losses.
