Dixie Fire is second largest in California history at 463,000 acres

California Wildfires 2020: River Fire

The Dixie Fire raging in northern California has become the second largest in the state’s history, covering 463,000 acres, according to authorities, as utility company Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) became linked to the fire.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) said yesterday that the Dixie Fire was second only to the August Complex Fire in 2020, which burned more than a million acres.
