Global insurance protection gap rose to record $1.4tn in 2020: Swiss Re Institute

The Swiss Re Institute has said the global insurance protection gap for health, mortality and natural catastrophe risk rose by 6.3% to a record high of $1.4tn in 2020.

The revelation came in the release of its 2021 Resilience Index, which also said the institute expected global insurance resilience to strengthen in 2021 thanks to “rising awareness of the importance of risk protection and economic recovery”.
